Hello! My name is Sarah (Elizabeth) Evans and I’m a writer, editor, and administrator with experience working in children’s book publishing, at a music school, in local and federal government, and in higher education.
After 15+ years away, in DC, Brooklyn, and New Haven — plus a grad semester in Berlin — I now live in my hometown of Rochester, NY.

Since moving back, I’ve become a Rochester evangelist, encouraging long-distance friends to visit and explore our awesome museums, bookstores, and green spaces, and connecting with old and new friends across the area.
I have bachelor’s degree from Yale in English with a writing concentration and a master’s degree in public administration from American University.
I’m open to freelance writing, editing, and consulting projects. I love working with writers and non-writers to tell their stories and would be delighted to help shape your book, proposal, report, strategic plan, and more.
A writing portfolio with samples of marketing copy, professional and academic writing, creative nonfiction, fiction, and more is available on request.
